The Biggest Takeaway From the Presidential Debate

The first presidential debate between President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden has concluded. Following the night, the biggest takeaway is that there were no surprises, and nothing happened that will change any attitudes, cause either candidate to gain or lose any votes, or move any undecided voters one way or the other.

Indeed, while the debate was contentious, and at times became personal, it lacked any real substance that could change attitudes in any meaningful way.

Given the level of back-and-forth between the candidates, the substance of the candidates’ answers was often lost and took a back seat to their style of argumentation and command of the room.

Though, in terms of style, in my view, President Trump was the clear winner—Trump was in command of the conversation, in control of the discussion, and if not presidential, certainly more in command.

Wevthe people are in trouble, that debate last night was like two high school teens having a pissing contest, not an adult on the stage. I’ve never seen Trump look so bad, he had a chance to take the high road but of course he did not. This will not change my vote for Trump, but it will for anyone on the fence. Very sorry affaire last night.

I am quite sure it will take Chris ( The Trump hater) Wallace a week to scrub the brown stuff off of his nose from Joe Bidens BEHIND ! Biden had the answers and a flesh colored ear Bud with “ handlers” talking in his ear . He was doped up with Alzheimer’s meds : Donepezil, Galantamine and Rivastigmine! This was a farce …. with the “ Neutral moderator” and cheater Joe with all the answers to the questions and people telling him what to say ! Biden Fact-Checked and lied 14 times !

I did not think Chris Wallace was neutral. Again, he favored the democrat and didn’t push Biden to answer some important questions.

No, there was no winner. Trump did not win the debate. I support Mr. Trump and do so openly. But, I also will criticize the things I don’t like about him…this is not personal, this is about my country.
What I saw was two 7th grade boys fighting over a toy and they had an idiot school teacher who chose sides and made a further mess of the situation rather than allowing the truth to come out.
Mr. Trump has said it himself, and he is right on: It is his mouth that gets him in trouble.
IMHO, if Mr. Trump had said, “Yeah, right Joe” over and over with one or two other “few words” response such as, “Yes, I’m against White Supremacy and renounce ANY supremacy based on skin color or ethnicity,” he would have shown like a diamond in the sunlight that he is.
Instead, he stooped to the low level of arguing with Creepy Joe Biden and actually answered Chris Wallace when he hurled accusations rather than questions.
Chris Wallace should be fired, and certainly should have never been chosen to be the “fair and balanced” moderator he was not capable of being.

Yes, and iot was not very produvctive having the moderator making sure that Trump never had time to follow up on any statements, Chrissy interrupted Trump 30 times, it was HE that was “debating” Trump, not Biden really.

They sounded like children. One kept interrupting and one kept calling the other names: the moderator did NOT do his job and clearly showed bias.

Biden lied three times about his son and is not fit to be President.

If Joe Biden wasn’t so disrespectful of the presidency, he would have made it easier for President Trump to be more respectful of him. Calling President Trump a CLOWN, TELLING PRESIDENT TRUMP TO “SHUT UP”, saying that the pandemic could have been controlled any better (no other country has controlled it), implying that President Trump deliberately KILLED THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE, through his inaction. President Trump consulted with scientists, he reported daily on the pandemic, he kept the Chinese infected people from coming into the country, as well as the Europeans.
Former Vice President Biden has shown himself to be an attack dawg, nothing more.

I will vote for Trump but in my view he interrupted too much. Giving Biden a chance to speak, and possibly hurt himself , did not make Trump look good.

Some of Trump’s answers could have been more concise and hard hitting.

The comments on Biden being at the bottom of the class were right on but stated in a way that looked meaner than it had to.

Wallace could not control the debate. Biden never answered a question. He danced around the question with no answers. Just his blam game. Today he is back in his basement.

I thought the debate was as useless as anything I have ever watched on television. Wallace was true to the liberal leftist he supports. Look at the way he never made Joe Biden answer any questions completely. They were half answered and Wallace let him get by with it. I am guessing that Joe couldn’t remember the answers to those questions. Joe’s eyes were very glassy, I wonder what drugs he was on.

They are asking me to modify my comment but have not told me what needs changing.

I think it was a fiasco. If the president wants to influence voters, he needs to shut his mouth at times and pick his replies better. I think the only winner was Chris Wallace.

Don’t really know what appearing presidential means but understand this we didn’t elect Donald Trump in 2016 to look “presidential” we elected him to fight for America and it’s citizens and that’s what he’s done. It’s a shame that he’s had to fight the media and the democrats every step of the way but he has. This is why “We the People” will elect him again.

They need to give more time per question and for rebutting. They also need a kill switch on the mike.

When whatever Committee meets to decide the RULES to be applied to FUTURE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES.
They should state that NO Electrical device be available to either protagonist.
That Both take a DRUG TEST before & immediately after the Debate.
That the MODERATOR HAS CONTROL OF THE POWER to the Microphones.
The Moderator should be a person who has NO POLITICAL AFFILIATION WITH ANY POLITICAL PARTY WITHIN THE USA.

I support Trump and he has my vote. What I expect from Trump other than him continuing on his course to improve the government is he expose and indict those factions that are abusing their powers and calling their own shots without proper channels.
