Head Of LGBT Republican Group Quits After THIS Decision

Via The Washington Examiner:

The executive director for Log Cabin Republicans, a LGBT equal rights group working with the Republican Party, has resigned after the organization announced its endorsement of President Trump for reelection in 2020.

¬†Jerri Ann Henry tendered her resignation to the board following “harsh” discussions surrounding the criticism the group received online for supporting Trump’s reelection campaign, according to the Washington Blade. Combined with her own distaste for the president, Henry reportedly had enough after she became increasingly dissatisfied with how the group defended its endorsement of Trump in the media. A key criticism of Log Cabin Republicans is that Trump has yet to meet with members and has yet to give any legislative commitments in exchange for their support.

The organization’s endorsement of Trump came in the form of an op-ed article sent to the Washington Post that praised Trump’s “commitments to the United States, including taking bold actions that benefit the LGBTQ community.” Henry’s name was not attached to the op-ed, only the names of Log Cabin Republicans chairman Robert Kabel and vice chairman Jill Homan.

Henry is not the first executive in the group to depart following the vote to endorse Trump. Jennifer Horn, who sat on the board for several years, also chose to leave over the endorsement.
