After Half-Century of Service, GOP Senator Retires

After a quarter-century in office, Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) has announced he will not seek reelection in 2020.

The Volunteer State’s senior senator will serve the remainder of his term.

The Nashville Tennessean reports:

“I am deeply grateful, but now it is time for someone else to have that privilege,” Alexander said.
