Around midnight Thursday, the Senate Republicans’ attempt to pass even the most modest of their Obamacare repeal efforts crashed and burned when “Maverick” John McCain joined the so-called moderate Republicans, Susan Collins (ME) and Lisa Murkowski (AK) to vote with the 48 Democrats to kill the “skinny repeal” bill. Early Friday morning, President Donald Trump responded to the failed vote by ripping the “3 Republicans and 48 Democrats” who “let the American people down.”
In a tweet posted around 2:30 in the morning, Trump slammed the three defecting Republicans and the unified Democrats, and, as he has done repeatedly in the past, predicted that Obamacare would collapse on its own.
“3 Republicans and 48 Democrats let the American people down. As I said from the beginning, let ObamaCare implode, then deal. Watch!” wrote the president.
Leading up to the “vote-a-rama” Thursday night, Trump had been urging Republicans to finally get this thing done after seven years of promises.
