Senator Tim Scott Enters Presidential Race

On Friday, Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina officially filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run for president in 2024. Scott had been rumored to be entering the race for months. It is now expected Scott will formally kick of his presidential campaign Monday, with a speech in North Charleston, South Carolina. In a surprising twist, Scott will be the first candidate, besides former President Trump, to have his fellow Republican Senators backing him in the 2024 race. He isn’t stopping there though, he is also planning a $6 million ad buy that will begin next week.

A Scott official told the Daily Caller:

“This campaign is built to win and has the resources and messenger to deliver a Republican nomination and ultimately the White House.”

Senator Scott joins a crowded field with officially declared opponents Nikki Haley, Asa Hutchinson, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Donald Trump. Another potential dent in Scott’s campaign could become Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ own race. As DeSantis is the closes, so far, in polls to beating former President Trump for the GOP nomination. Scott has his work cut out for him.

This is a developing story.
