In the past couple of months, the clues have stacked up signaling Mike Pence could be entering the 2024 GOP primaries. Since Pence’s book, “So Help Me God”, was published in November, small instances have occurred that signaled his potential motive. Though at some points his team has had to set the record straight after hoaxed screenshots surfaced about Pence. While he hasn’t formally announced anything yet it has been teased that some sort of announcement will be coming this year.
In November there were signs of Pence’s staff building a political team with the tapping of Ali Kjergaard, spokesperson of outgoing Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse. She was brought on as the communications director for Advancing American Freedom – a Pence-aligned non-profit organization serving as Pence’s campaign-in-waiting group. According to Politico, the organization is set to hire more officials at the beginning of this year along with fundraising aids.
Then two separate events happened in December that even further hinted at a potential Pence bid. After receiving positive feedback from his autobiography he mentioned that that support was “very encouraging” when looking at a 2024 bid. Though the biggest December Pence news was easily the shared screenshots of a Federal Election Commission posting that insinuated Pence had registered for 2024 – though this news got to be such a big story that Pence’s spokesperson Devin O’Malley had to come out and mention those screenshots were a hoax.
Though 2023 is here and there has not been any official Pence news. If and when it happens we will keep you updated.
