Iran in a Corner
In recent months Iran has put itself in a corner through dramatic actions. After the death of Mahsa Amini by Iran’s so-called Morality Police, and Tehran’s escalated nuclear deal – Iran has put itself in a position for confrontations against the west this year.
- Protests, led by young people and women, have spread across the country after Amini’s death. This creates a serious threat to the state – one it hasn’t seen since the revolution that brought the Islamic Republic to power in 1979.
- Their nuclear program has also shifted heavily against compromise likely keeping them from reviving a nuclear deal.
- The country’s support for Russia’s war will also not help the country in keeping up relations with the West.
