Florida Secretary of State Resigns

Florida’s Secretary of State, Laurel Lee announced that after three years she is resigning from her position.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Laurel Lee, who oversees the Division of Elections, submitted her letter of resignation to Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday, according to a spokesperson for the governor. Lee’s resignation is effective May 16, says the letter obtained by News 6.

“I will continue to seek what’s best for the citizens of Florida and will always be proud of what we accomplished together,” Lee wrote in her letter.

“Together, we protected and grew Florida’s competitive business climate, preserved Florida’s incredible historical resources, supported Florida’s arts and culture community, and strengthened Florida’s election systems,” Lee said. “Because of your leadership, the Department of State is stronger and better than when we found it.”
