A new Gallup poll is now showing that Americans progressively shifted their preferences away from Democrats and toward Republicans over the course of 2021.
The survey has now shown that the American public has slowly shifted its attitudes throughout 2021, from preferring Democrats at the start of the year to eventually favoring Republicans by the end.
In the first quarter of 2021 Democrats enjoyed a nine point advantage over Republicans while the last quarter of the year saw Republicans take the lead with a five percentage advantage over Democrats.
The results are based on all telephone surveys conducted by Gallup in 2021, totally about 12,000 respondents in total.
