Seattle Elects Republican City Attorney Over Police Abolitionist

Seattle, Washington elected Republican Ann Davison to become the next city attorney.

What Happened: Republican candidate Ann Davison beat out Democrat opponent Nicole Thomas-Kennedy in the race for city attorney.

Davison won with a final result of 58% to 41%.

Context: Seattle is historically Democrat-leaning and was one of the first U.S. cities to defund its police department last year following George Floyd protests.
