Democrats in Georgia are vowing to take revenge against a colleague who voiced his support for President Trump but said he would remain a Democrat.
“It’s very simple to me. President Trump’s handling of the economy, his support for historically black colleges, and his criminal justice initiatives drew me to endorse his campaign,” state Rep. Vernon Jones told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution this week .
Jones represents one of the most Democratic districts in Georgia and has held his seat representing parts of DeKalb and Rockdale counties in the suburbs of Atlanta since 2017.
Local Democrats voiced outrage at Jones’s announcement this week.
