Key State Delays Primary

Via The Washington Examiner:

Maryland is the latest state to delay a primary election due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The primary scheduled for April 28 will now take place on June 2, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, said in a press conference on Tuesday. The special election to fill late Rep. Elijah Cummings’s seat will continue but move to a vote-by-mail system.

The announcement came as three large states — Florida, Arizona, and Illinois — proceeded with primary elections on Tuesday despite concerns about social distancing to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Ohio’s governor announced late Monday that its scheduled Tuesday primary was canceled due to the virus despite a court earlier on Tuesday denying a request to postpone the primary.
