The Republican National Committee has funneled an additional $7 million dollars into congressional races across the country in the last 13 days before the midterm elections to counteract Democratic spending.
The RNC gave $3.5 million each to both the House and Senate campaign committees, bringing the total contribution to congressional races to $25 million.
“We’re increasing our midterm commitment thanks to the support from President [Donald] Trump and millions of energized Americans who want to ensure Republican majorities can continue to deliver results,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement Wednesday.
The bump in spending comes after the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spent $65 million for television advertisements by the end of last week, surpassing the National Republican Congressional Committee that spent $44 million according to Politico.
