President Donald Trump told supporters Thursday night if he’s impeached “it’s your fault because you didn’t go out to vote.”
Trump made his declaration during a rally in Billings, Montana, for Republican Matt Rosendale who’s vying for a U.S. Senate seat this fall held by Democrat Jon Tester. And given the midterm elections in November could shift the congressional balance of power toward the Democrats, Trump knows all too well that could trigger impeachment proceedings against him.
“They like to use the ‘impeach’ word, ‘impeach Trump!’” he told the crowd before invoking the name of Democratic U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (Calif.), who has repeatedly called for the president’s impeachment.
“But I say, ‘How do you impeach somebody that’s doing a great job, that hasn’t done anything wrong?’” Trump asked. “Our economy is good. How do you do it? How do you do it?”
