President Trump on Wednesday is to present former Senate Republican Leader Bob Dole with the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest honor Congress gives.
The 3 p.m. ceremony is set for the Capitol Rotunda, through which the World War II disabled veteran, long-time Kansas senator and 1996 Republican presidential nominee passed many times.

Dole has been solid cheerleader for Trump. For example, after the president toured Poland and other European nations, Dole said Trump is restoring “strong American leadership.”
The legislation to OK the medal was co-sponsored by every senator.
