The Democrats’ push to impeach President Donald Trump – without evidence of criminal wrongdoing – was never going to succeed in the Republican-dominated House of Representatives.
But they must’ve hoped for more support than they wound up getting, at least from their party.
Just 58 Democrats voted to move ahead on a resolution that would impeach Donald Trump. 364 members of Congress from both parties voted not to.
Rep. Al Green (D-Mich.) introduced the impeachment resolution on Wednesday. Green, who repeatedly has demanded Trump’s removal, called Trump “unfit” for office during a fiery speech on the House floor.
