Colbert May Face Serious Consequences After Controversial Trump Joke

The Federal Communications Commission is investigating Stephen Colbert’s jokes about President Trump after receiving “a number” of complaints about his tirade earlier this week.

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said the agency would “take the appropriate action” depending on whether the comedian’s remarks are found to be “obscene.”

“We are going to take the facts that we find and we are going to apply the law as it’s been set out by the Supreme Court and other courts and we’ll take the appropriate action,” he told Talk Radio 1210 WPHT Thursday, according to The Hill. “Traditionally, the agency has to decide, if it does find a violation, what the appropriate remedy should be,” he added. “A fine, of some sort, is typically what we do.”

The agency fielded complaints after Colbert went on a lengthy rant against President Trump on his Monday show.
